One of the most impressive wineries in the Northwest. Fashioned after a French country chateau, only 20 minutes south of Prosser. Extensively landscaped grounds, an elegant lobby, gift shop and tasting room top the list of visitor amenities. The winery is recognized for high quality Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet and Semillon-Chardonnay. Columbia Crest is the largest winery in Washington State and one of the top-selling premium wineries in America. It is recognized for the consistent quality of its popular Chardonnay and is best known for approachable Merlot that helped establish Washington State's outstanding reputation for the variety. The hallmark of these and other Columbia Crest wines is a food-friendly style that combines easy elegance with immediate appeal Columbia Crest is surrounded by 2,200 acres of prime estate vineyards in Eastern Washington State's Columbia Valley. Its proximity to the vineyards is a distinct advantage for winemaker Ray Einberger, who spends nearly as much time in the vineyards as in the cellar. The winery recently added a $7 million red crush pad and fermentation room. The addition followed Columbia Crest's barrel room expansion, providing winemakers with state-of-the-art temperature and humidity control systems for the winery's growing investment in French and American oak. Columbia Crest's Columbia Valley wines earned the winery an early reputation for outstanding quality and value. The Grand Estate wines showcase the distinctive fruit intensity from the region's best vineyard sites. Columbia Crest's estate vineyards, the site producing our most acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, are featured prominently in each blend. For its Reserve wines which are extremely limited, Doug Gore established a “winery within the winery,” designating a separate winemaking area within the winery and assigning a special winemaking team to craft these wines using artisan techniques. |
